World Cancer Day 2019

World Cancer Day encourages people across the world to show support and take action in the fight against cancer every year on February 4. The goal is to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness, educating the public about the disease, and addressing how we can take action. 

How CRI is Participating

Jill O’Donnell-Tormey, PhD, CEO and director of scientific affairs at the Cancer Research Institute, is moderating a World Cancer Day panel at the Alexandria Center on Monday, February 4, at 12 noon ET. The panel will focus on how cancer research today will impact the future of oncology. 

Panelists include Ben Anderson PhD, VP & Platform Leader, Oncology Business Unit, Eli Lilly & Co; Christopher M. Haqq MD PhD, Executive Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer, Atara Biotherapeutics; Sumayah Jamal, MD-PhD, President, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer, ENB Therapeutics; and Jeanne Magram, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer, Quentis Therapeutics.

This year’s theme is #IAmAndIWill, encouraging individuals and organizations to declare how they are contributing to World Cancer Day and working to create a future without cancer.
