Omar Ghaffar Breaks Golf World Record and Raises Over $20,000 for CRI July 18, 2024July 23, 2024 Cierra Howard Omar Ghaffar tees off on an indoor simulator during his record breaking fundraiser. Illinois-based Omar Ghaffar loves golf and is passionate about raising awareness and supporting CRI’s mission. In the past few years, Omar has seen family and friends affected by cancer, so he decided one way to make a difference was to take on a record-breaking challenge. Omar created DriveOutCancer24 to take on the world record for most indoor golf simulator holes played in a 24-hour period. DriveOutCancer24 took place on June 28, 2024, at the PARennial golf facility in Chicago, IL. The amazing feat was also recorded on a Youtube Livestream to his audience of supporters. Ghaffar succeeded in achieving his goal and set a new World Record by completing 702 holes in 22 hours and 19 minutes, beating the previous record of 666. When asked what inspired Mr. Ghaffar to start DriveOutCancer24 he said it was as simple as connecting the dots: “Cures can only come through research. Research can only happen with funding. Funding comes from people, businesses, and governments. People, businesses, and governments must act to provide funding. Action takes place through individuals: us!” We are so incredibly grateful for the support Omar and his network has provided during this time. His idea to combine his passion for golf with our shared passion for a future immune to cancer led to over $20,000 raised for the Cancer Research Institute.
