Specifically, in 2021, men constituted approximately 65% of the STEM workforce, leaving women with about 35% of roles in these critical, future-shaping occupations.

Dr. Catalina Lee Chang, a CRI CLIP Investigator at Northwestern University, emphasizes the importance of mentorship in navigating these waters: “Sometimes, you may feel that you do not belong to this game because you think you are not ‘good enough.’ Trust the process and keep moving forward, and you will overcome those fears! Most importantly, choose the right mentor who will help you build your confidence.” This guidance is crucial for women, as mentors not only offer support but also empower them to break through the systemic barriers they encounter.
