Will Harrison Bailis, Ph.D., Postdoctoral FellowYale University

I can connect with other like-minded scientists to build the network of collaborators necessary to tackle a problem as monumental as treating cancer.
Area of Research: Leukemia, Lymphoma, All Cancers

The immune system is capable of detecting and eliminating cancer, but unfortunately cancer cells can sometimes evade our immune cells. Dr. Bailis is scanning the entire genome and determining how different genes influence immune cells’ ability to detect and target leukemia as well as how they might enable leukemia to escape detection. This knowledge could then suggest new targets and guide approaches to improve the immune system’s ability to eliminate cancer.

My CRI funding has not only provided me with the financial support I need to pursue research that could directly impact patients’ lives, but has also enabled me to attend conferences where I can connect with other like-minded scientists to build the network of collaborators necessary to tackle a problem as monumental as treating cancer.
