Cancer Research Institute Awarded $250,000 through Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge

CRI was a Top Fundraiser in Online Competition

NEW YORK, November 20, 2015—At a red carpet ceremony that took place Wednesday evening in New York City, Revlon presented a donation prize of $250,000 to the Cancer Research Institute (CRI), a nonprofit organization that funds laboratory and clinical research aimed at harnessing the immune system’s power to conquer all cancers. Prize proceeds will support CRI’s efforts to discover effective new immune-based treatments for the top causes of cancer-related deaths in women, including breast, colorectal, and lung cancers, among others.

The LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge, created by Revlon, is the company’s new crowdfunding philanthropic platform. Beginning in September, organizations dedicated to women’s cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, competed to raise the most funds to win a million dollar grand prize donation from Revlon. Over $4 million was donated to women’s health organizations throughout the Challenge. Cancer Research Institute took second place, having raised more than $757,000. The top prize went to Cycle for Survival of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which raised $977,000.

“The Cancer Research Institute is honored receive this recognition from Revlon,” said Jill O’Donnell-Tormey, Ph.D., CEO and director of scientific affairs at CRI. “We hope that, with continued efforts like Revlon’s LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge, more people will support cancer research so that, together, we can achieve enduring cures for all cancers in the near future, including cancers that most affect women worldwide.”

Lorenzo Delpani, CEO of Revlon, added, “It has been gratifying to see how passionately the Cancer Research Institute and other participating charities have embraced the spirit of our LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge. Community engagement in the Challenge has significantly magnified the impact of Revlon’s charitable giving, advancing worthy causes devoted to improving women’s health.”
