Durante nueve meses recibi\u00f3 un tratamiento de quimioterapia tradicional pero que lo debilit\u00f3 mucho, no pod\u00eda comer ni dormir. Su esposa Mar\u00eda, destrozada, busc\u00f3 otras opciones. En 2016, despu\u00e9s de enterarse de que portaba una mutaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica relacionada con el s\u00edndrome de Lynch, Ron comenz\u00f3 con una inmunoterapia combinada en un ensayo cl\u00ednico en el Centro M\u00e9dico de la Universidad de Pittsburgh. Recibi\u00f3 nivolumab (Opdivo), un inhibidor de puntos de control de PD-1, e ipilimumab (Yervoy), un inhibidor de puntos de control de CTLA-4. Finalizado el ensayo, sigui\u00f3 recibiendo la combinaci\u00f3n de nivo\/ipi como parte del tratamiento habitual y pudo seguir con su vida sin indicios de progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad durante dos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abPuedo vivir con la inmunoterapia\u00bb, explic\u00f3 Ron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PUESTA AL D\u00cdA: Ron falleci\u00f3 en diciembre de 2018.
