IL-22 is a molecule that is important in intestinal epithelial homeostasis, but that may also contribute to tumor cell division and survival. IL-22 is produced by immune cells, including subsets of innate lymphoid cells that mainly reside in mucosal tissues.
The overall goal of Dr. Bando’s research is to decipher how IL-22 secretion by innate lymphoid cells is regulated in different organs in order to develop strategies to control the production of this cytokine.
