Lynne A. Harmer

Director of Grants Administration and Special Events

Lynne Harmer is director of grants administration and special events, a title she has held since 1995. She joined the Institute in 1989. 

Lynne currently manages the Institute’s $12 million annual research budget and has overseen the administration of more than 1300 research grants, totaling more than $200 million in single and multi-year awards to investigators at institutions in the U.S. and abroad. Her office oversees all aspects of the grants process and maintains a database of more than 12,000 scientists in the immunology community. In addition, she acts as a liaison to the Institute’s Scientific Advisory Council, helping to facilitate their role as stewards of the Institute’s scientific mission.

As director of special events, she oversees and executes all fundraising events for the Institute. In addition, she has coordinated the Institute’s Annual International Cancer Immunotherapy Symposium since its inception in 1992, working closely with the Institute’s scientific leadership, planning committee members, and speakers. 

Lynne graduated from St. John’s University in 1989 with a B.A. in Communications. She resides in Staten Island with her husband and two children.
