Christine Spencer is an informatics research scientist at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI), a non-profit research organization based in San Francisco. Christine works on a team of scientists that use big data to inform novel immunotherapy clinical trials and build new tools to accelerate discovery in the field.
Prior to joining the PICI, Christine completed her Ph.D. under the advisement of Jennifer Wargo and Lorenzo Cohen at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she studied response to immunotherapy in patients with melanoma, with specific focus on the role of the oral and gut microbiome. She continues to study the microbiome with the launch of a new microbiome intervention trial in melanoma immunotherapy patients, lead by the PICI and Seres Therapeutics.
Christine did her Bachelor’s work in Biology at the University of California-Santa Barbara, where she was also captain of the women’s basketball team.
