October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In this webinar designed for patients and caregivers, Silvia Formenti, M.D., discussed current immunotherapy treatment options for patients with breast cancer, and how close we are to making these treatments available to more patients.
Dr. Formenti is chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine, associate director of the Meyer Cancer Center, and radiation oncologist-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. During the past twelve years, Dr. Formenti has introduced a paradigm shift in radiation biology by elucidating the role of radiation on the immune system and demonstrating the efficacy of combining radiotherapy with immunotherapy in breast and other cancers.
Cancer Research Institute's webinar series, "Cancer Immunotherapy and You," are offered free to the public and feature informative updates for patients and caregivers from leaders in cancer immunotherapy, followed by a Q&A. This series is presented by Genentech and LabAnswer and its employees, with generous support from Abbvie, Celldex Therapeutics, NewLink Genetics, and Regeneron.
