At the Cancer Research Institute's 60th Anniversary Awards Dinner, held Sept. 30, 2013, in New York City, the Cancer Research Institute presented its top awards including the William B. Coley Award for Distinguished Research in Basic and Tumor Immunology, the Oliver R. Grace Award for Distinguished Service in Advancing Cancer Research, and the Frederick W. Alt Award for New Discoveries in Immunology.
Honorees for the Grace Award included: serial tech entrepreneur and philanthropist Sean Parker, and Dr. Bahija Jallal, executive vice president of MedImmune (a subsidiary of AstraZeneca). The Coley Award went to Dr. Michael Karin, professor of molecular pathology at the University of California in San Diego. The Alt Award went to Dr. Jill O'Donnell-Tormey, CEO and director of scientific affairs at the Cancer Research Institute. Musical guests Johnnyswim provided entertainment.
