Our Winter 2013 Newsletter is Now Available Online
March 01, 2013 |
We've released a special edition issue of our newsletter, The Researcher, which is now available online through the CRI website.
This issue highlights a game-changing deal that we and our nonprofit partner the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research have struck with MedImmune, the global biologics arm of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. This exciting new collaboration between a for-profit company and two nonprofits will give us access to several promising new immunotherapies for testing in the CRI-Ludwig CVC Trials Network.
We also announce the winning members of the new CRI-SU2C Cancer Immunology Dream Team. We're delighted to share that our own James P. Allison, Ph.D., has been chosen to co-lead the three-year, $10 million project aimed at bringing effective immunotherapies into the clinic rapidly.
We highlight the story of Mary Elizabeth Williams, a mother of two diagnosed in 2010 with advanced melanoma. She enrolled in an immunotherapy clinical trial and today remains cancer-free. It's a touching story. You can hear Mary Elizabeth tell it in her own words in a video interview she gave us in September 2012.
Last but not least, we share some of the exciting new things happening at CRI as we give our logo a facelift and launch a new website. More to come on that soon!
