AACR was founded in 1907 by a group of 11 physicians and scientists interested in research, "to further the investigation and spread the knowledge of cancer." Today, the AACR accelerates progress toward the prevention and cure of cancer by promoting research, education, communication, and collaboration. In 2013, AACR and the Cancer Research Institute began collaborating together on the journal Cancer Immunology Research, which publishes the latest science related to cancer immunotherapy. AACR is also the research partner of Stand Up To Cancer, which is co-funding a Cancer Immunology Translational Research Dream Team with Cancer Research Institute.
