CRI researchers from The Netherlands have published results from a study of a vaccine that could lead to new treatments for people who have already been infected with the human papilomavirus and who are at risk of developing genitourinary and other types of cancer caused by HPV infection.

Although the chances of surviving advanced melanoma aren’t very good with current therapies, some patients can live for years with cancer that has spread beyond the skin to other organs. Now CRI researchers have discovered that it may be possible to identify which patients are more likely to survive by analyzing the activity of hundreds of genes involved in the immune response and gene proliferation.
