As digital media manager at the Cancer Research Institute, Michelle executes the organization's digital marketing, communications, and development initiatives, in which she manages content for CRI's websites and other online channels. She also leads graphic design and production for digital and print materials, including CRI publications and e-communications. Prior to this role, Michelle was assistant editor of Cancer Immunity, CRI’s former academic journal, where she managed the editorial and production process until June 2013. She joined the Institute in September 2011.
Before CRI, Michelle held a number of positions in the biomedical sciences, including as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital and as a research administrative assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. It was in these roles where she was exposed to cancer research and became passionate about finding better and safer ways to extend the lives of cancer patients; she learned how CRI pioneered the field of cancer immunotherapy and is enthusiastic about the potential of this revolutionary treatment to one day cure all cancers.
After earning her B.A. in Psychology with honors from Long Island University-Brooklyn, Michelle completed an M.S. in Publishing from Pace University and coursework towards a certificate in digital graphic design and production from New York University. She is a member of the Nonprofit Technology Network, as well as a member of the Council of Science Editors, in which she was a 2013 recipient of the society's international scholarship award. When she's not at CRI, Michelle, a Brooklyn native, likes to travel, take photographs, or volunteer with animal rescue groups.
