The August 10, 2004 issue of the Oncology Times featured an article about the CVC in the News Center section. Entitled, “Cancer Vaccine Collaborative Encourages Standards for Monitoring Research,” the article highlights the unique structure of the CVC and features an extensive and informative interview with Dr. Jonathan Skipper, who is the Director of the Office of Program Development at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, CRI’s partner in the CVC. The article applauds the standardized monitoring techniques that are a hallmark of the program and that allow for different trials to be directly compared with one another. This standardization was employed during a recent research study that demonstrated, for the first time, that a cancer vaccine can induce a fully integrated immunological response in humans. Dr. Skipper states in the article that the CVC monitoring method allows for a scientifically rigorous process that may help researchers ready their therapies for regulatory approval in a shorter time period.
