The Cancer Research Institute is proud to announce that the National Prostate Cancer Coalition has joined in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by utilizing the mobile medical office designed for The Drive Against Prostate Cancer to provide emergency medical assistance in Louisiana. The Cancer Research Institute serves as a key sponsor of The Drive. Beginning on September 11, 2005, The Drive will be dispatched to Louisiana, and in coordination with the state’s Department of Health and Human Services, will act as a desperately needed medical facility. The Drive is a retrofitted recreational vehicle donated by Thor Industries, Inc., that has been equipped with two examination rooms and phlebotomy stations. The mobility of The Drive will allow its state-of-the-art medical facilities to be utilized by Louisiana wherever it and its team of medical professionals are most needed. During September, which is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the National Prostate Cancer Coalition and its supporters believe that the best use for the Drive is to save lives and ease suffering in Louisiana.
