(February 15, 2006) Dr. Ian Frazer, a CRI-supported clinical investigator at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, was named "Australian of the Year" during that country's annual national "Australia Day" celebrations on January 26, 2006. Considered the Australian government's top honor, the award was bestowed upon Dr. Frazer because of his liftetime of research that has resulted in a cervical cancer vaccine that has the potential to eradicate HPV-associated cervical cancers worldwide within a generation. CRI has supported Dr. Frazer's work since 1999.
